Course Director: Dr Marilyn McDougall, Paediatric Intensive Care Consultant

Aim:

The course is mapped to the paediatric curriculum and will provide candidates with a framework to:

  • Manage a wide range of paediatric emergencies
  • Identify and manage neonatal emergencies
  • Facilitate good teamwork in critical scenarios

Outline:

  • This one day course is delivered in simulation centres with excellent facilities for high fidelity simulation
  • Places are limited to optimize learning opportunities and allow all candidates to participate in scenarios
  • Multidisciplinary team working will be developed using common and important neonatal and paediatric emergency scenarios
  • Scenarios and debriefing will focus on Human Factors as well as knowledge and technical skills
  • Candidates will gain an improved understanding of crisis resource management and its application in paediatrics

Attendees:

Designed for ST3 and ST1 Paediatric Trainees and Paediatric Nurses

Places are limited to the following:

  • 5x ST1
  • 5x ST3
  • 5x Paediatric Nurses
