Nature of Course: Open to internal GSTT attendees only

Outline:

This is a half day in situ course which started in November 2013 and has been running monthly at either Guy’s or St Thomas’ theatres. This is a free course aimed at improving non-technical skills among theatre staff in their own home environment. It uses the benefit of familiarity of the staff with their own environment for a high fidelity situation. The course involves an introduction to non-technical skills including using a video and a meet the manikin session. All candidates are then involved in a simulated scenario either in the anaesthetic room or in the operating theatre followed by a debrief session. Occasionally, another scenario can be run when time allows. So far feedback has been very positive and attendees have reported that they are interested in attending the course on a regular basis (monthly to six monthly).
