Simulation and interactive learning at South London and Maudsley (SLaM) provides a range of training courses for people working in mental health care. Simulation training has been used in much of the rest of medicine for some time. In essence it aims to create environments as similar as possible to real life clinical environments in order that skills may be practiced and improved safely away from the patient. We now have a range of technology at our disposal in SLaM including audio and visual equipment and high fidelity mannequins. The courses we have run are always highly rated by those attending. We want to achieve a step-wise change in the way in which this modality of training is offered in South London and Maudsley.
